Mark Easton
Broadcaster, author and former Home Editor at the BBCMark Easton is an award-winning broadcaster and author, a familiar face and voice on British television and radio for more than 40 years. He has written extensively on the UK, including in his books ‘Britain etc.’ (2012) and ‘Islands’ (2023). A new book, provisionally entitled ‘Brits’, is currently in production. As the BBC’s Home Editor from 2004 until 2025, Mark provided news coverage, analysis and broad perspective on the major events affecting Britain. Before that, he was the Home and Social Affairs Editor at Channel 4 News and Political Editor at Channel 5 News. Mark started his career as a cub reporter on his local paper in Southampton in 1978. Mark is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, a Senior Fellow of the National Centre for Social Research, a Governor of the National institute of Economic and Social Research and member of Westminster Abbey’s Council of Reference.

Chair, Riverside GroupTerrie served as Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing from 2015 to 2019 and has a wealth of housing experience spanning over 30 years. Her previous appointments include Director of Housing at the Department of Communities and Local Government where she was responsible for national housing polices including affordable housing, homelessness and supported housing. Terrie has extensive NED experience in housing and homelessness organisations. Currently she is a trustee of the Nationwide Foundation and JRF, as well as chairing JRHT. She is also Senior Independent Director for Grosvenor Hart Homes. Her wealth of knowledge of the housing sector and her work in shaping policy is instrumental in continuing to take the Riverside Group forward as one of the country’s leading providers of housing and homelessness services.
Jo Allen
Head of Member Relations, National Housing FederationJo has worked at the NHF since 2015. Prior to joining the NHF, she worked in policy and public affairs roles in local government, the banking sector and the British Embassy in Madrid.

Obehi Alofoje
Psychologist and Director, Aurora Inc.Obehi Alofoje is a psychologist and culture change consultant who supports senior leaders to manage stress, improve team relationships, and strengthen workplace wellbeing. She works with executives across sectors through coaching, leadership development, and clear, practical wellbeing strategies. She also provides ADHD coaching for senior leaders and business owners. Obehi is the co-Founder and Director of Aurora Inc., a workplace wellbeing consultancy with a tailored approach. Her clients include Allianz, the BBC, Cochlear, Michael Page, LSE, Imperial College, and the Co-op. She co-hosts the award-winning Wellbeing Rebellion podcast and serves as a Board Trustee for Big Life Group.

Tom Arey
Director, PfP Thrive, Places for PeopleTom Arey is the Managing Director of PfP Thrive an organisation delivering comprehensive, bespoke training programmes for the UK housing and construction sectors. PfP Thrive provides compliance training, apprenticeships, and leadership development to meet the sector’s evolving workforce needs. Part of Places for People, PfP Thrive is equipping the housing sector with the skills and expertise required for a sustainable future. Having started his career as an apprentice, Tom has spent nearly a decade focused on developing training solutions for the housing industry, and in 2025, he established PfP Thrive to bring that vision to life.

Richard Blakeway
Housing Ombudsman, Housing Ombudsman ServiceRichard was appointed as Housing Ombudsman from 1 September 2019. He has extensive experience in the housing sector, with previous roles including Deputy Mayor of London for Housing, chair of the Homes for London board, and a non-executive director of Homes England. During his eight years at the Greater London Authority, Richard was responsible for housing investment and land regeneration programmes. He also led the creation of the first team at City Hall to address rough sleeping, commissioning around £10 million of services each year, as well as the first Social Impact Bond on homelessness.
Richard is a former board member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and has been an election observer in Somaliland and the Ukraine. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and sits on the Administrative Justice Council. Richard is also a former chair of the Ombudsman Association and is a board member of the British Library.

James Carss
Chief Executive, Castle Peak GroupJames Carss is the founder and CEO of Castle Peak Group, an executive search firm with a difference. With over 20 years in executive recruitment across the UK, Asia, and North America, James has always challenged the norm. His journey began in the North East, where he stood up for a friend facing racial prejudice. This experience sparked a lifelong commitment to challenging inequality. After making his mark with top firms in London and leading teams in Hong Kong, James returned to the UK with a mission. In January 2024, he founded Castle Peak Group to offer executive search services that genuinely prioritise diversity, inclusion, and ethical leadership.

Yvonne Castle
Chair, Railway HAYvonne is the Chair of Railway Housing Association. A former CEO of Johnnie Johnson Housing, Board Member with the Northern Housing Consortium, and Chair of their Audit & Risk Committee. Yvonne's career has spanned a range of sectors including Housing, Local & National Government and the Private Sector. She is passionate about 'doing right by people'. In the latter part of her career she has focused on our ageing population; she now is a mentor and a coach for a children's hospice. She has extensive experience in governance, regulation, finance, organisational development and strategic leadership.

Donna Cesir
Chair, ForHousingDonna joined the ForHousing Group as their Deputy Chair in June 2023, when they had been downgraded to G3. She has worked closely with the board and customers, through an intensive programme of improvements, to help move the organisation to G2 in March 25, when she then became the Chair. The team are now on a steady trajectory to G1, through a relentless focus on customers, and building a stronger organisation.

Holly Dagnall
Director of Homes and Wellbeing, Nottingham Community Housing AssociationHolly has over 20 years of senior management experience in managing business risk, strategy, quality delivery and operational experience in the Housing, Care and Support sector. She joined NCHA in April 2002 and has worked across a range of specialist supported and registered care home settings in both an operational and strategic lead capacity.
Holly became Director of Housing with Care and Support in April 2016 and in April 2018 took on the role of Director of Homes and Wellbeing bringing together NCHA’s specialist housing, care and support teams with social, affordable and submarket rent homes.
Holly’s passion has always been social justice and she is a proud advocate of Supported Housing as both a platform for growth and independence and a safety net for those who need it.

Jenny Danson
Chief Executive, Healthy Homes HubWith over 30 years of leadership experience, Jenny has held prominent roles including CEO, COO, Executive Director, and Programme Manager. Jenny's impressive career spans various sectors, working with giants like BAA plc, Boots Opticians, Lovell, Ilke Homes, Kier, and Fortem, as well as numerous Councils and Housing Associations. Her strategic and operational prowess has consistently driven growth and innovation in every organisation she’s touched. In 2017, Jenny founded Danery to provide executive coaching and consultancy to the housing sector and tech start-ups. Her passion for property innovation led to the launch of the Proptech Innovation Network in 2021, a groundbreaking initiative in social housing. Jenny has worked with and supported over 130 housing associations, local authorities and combined authorities over the last 20 years. Now, with the establishment of Healthy Homes Hub in 2024, Jenny aims to create a collaborative platform to promote healthier, more sustainable living environments. With her extensive expertise and industry connections, Jenny is set to make Healthy Homes Hub a beacon of change in social housing.

Kate Dodsworth
Chief of Regulatory Engagement, Regulator of Social HousingKate started her career in housing 30 years ago in homelessness, working with rough sleepers in Birmingham and later managing homeless hostels in Brighton. After completing a Masters degree in Housing, she worked at the National Housing Federation for 10 years; latterly as Assistant Director covering London, the South East and East of England. She was Executive Director of People and Communications at Amicus Horizon and, post-merger, as Optivo.
Kate was Chief Executive of Gateway Housing Association for three years until starting as Director of Consumer Regulation at the Regulator for Social Housing in July 2021. In 2023, she was appointed Chief of Regulatory Engagement at RSH. Kate was an external examiner for Westminster University until 2019 and a co-founder of the charity, Leadership2025, which aims to increase representation of black housing professionals in senior roles and address structural inequality.

Parminder Dosanjh
Board Member, WHGFor the past twenty-five years Parminder has designed and delivered ground-breaking audience development initiatives for arts, broadcast, and heritage. Her work spans digital production with the BBC, supporting the Cultural Olympiad programme with Arts Council England, and inclusive programming.
Now Creative Director of one of Arts Council’s Creative People and Places programmes, Parminder co-leads Creative Black Country. Her role focusses on co-design, placemaking and amplifying the assets in the region through creative process.
Outside of her role, Parminder is an Area Council Member for Arts Council England, Trustee with Black Country Living Museum, and a Board Member of West Midlands Combined Authority Cultural Leadership Board.
Parminder is also a member of whg’s People and Governance Committee.

Althea Efunshile
Chair, Metropolitan Thames ValleyAlthea Efunshile CBE is an accomplished Chair and Non-Executive Director with a 40-year career in education, the arts, and services for children and young people across local and central government. She currently chairs Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing and Ballet Black, and serves as a Non-Executive Director of the Enforcement Conduct Board. Her previous roles include Deputy Chief Executive of Arts Council England, senior civil servant at the Department for Education and Skills, and chief officer in Lewisham. She began as a secondary school teacher in Brent. Althea was awarded a CBE in June 2016.

Sarah Elliott
Chief Executive, ShelterSarah is a leading figure in the voluntary sector with more than 20 years’ experience championing social justice and driving change. She became Chief Executive of Shelter in September 2025, leading the organisation’s fight for home. Previously, Sarah steered the National Council for Voluntary Organisations through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, serving as Director of Policy and Volunteering and later as Chief Executive. Her earlier roles include senior positions at Epilepsy Society and The Neurological Alliance. Alongside her executive career, Sarah is a trustee of the food poverty charity Trussell and has previously served on the boards of National Voices and The Brain and Spine Foundation.

Rachel Fletcher
NED, Clarion and Director of Regulation and Economics at Octopus EnergyRachel Fletcher joined Octopus Energy as Director for Regulation and Economics in April 2021. Her focus is on transforming the energy system so people can benefit from affordable, sustainable and reliable electricity and the economy as a whole can harness the opportunities from rapidly evolving clean technologies. Rachel is a regulatory expert. She was Ofwat's Chief Executive for three years and a Senior Director and a Board member of Ofgem for many years. She started her career in utilities as a consultant.

Maggie Galliers CBE
Chair, National Housing FederationMaggie has over a decade of non-Executive experience in the education sector, recruiting and performance managing CEO’s and senior executives at both local and national level. Previous to this she worked in education for over 40 years, including 15 years acting as CEO at several colleges. Most recently Maggie has served as chair of The National Learning and Work Institute since 2016 and is Pro Chancellor and Chair of Council for Buckinghamshire New University. She was awarded a CBE in 2009 in recognition of her services to local and national further education.

Andy George
Director of Industry Attraction and Skills, Home Builders FederationDirector of Industry Attraction and Skills at the Home Builders Federation. Previously at Barratt Redrow, as Head of Talent Management. Having worked in the home building industry for almost 20 years, Andy has been responsible for developing multiple development frameworks and strategies beyond home building, within the hospitality and supermarket sectors, accumulating a wealth of experience in key HR and development roles. Previously Andy Chaired the HBF Skills and Supply Chain Engagement group, and the HBF Career Attract Group, has worked alongside HBF to drive collaboration and attraction activity across the home building sector for several years.

John Glenton
Chair, Pickering and FerensJohn joined the Board of Directors in July 2023 and brings comprehensive knowledge and expertise gained through over 35 years of housing sector experience, predominately within provision of care and support services to vulnerable people. John has been the Chief Care and Support Officer for the Riverside Group since 2016.

Vice Chair, CrisisGeeta was a long-serving chief executive with over 35 years’ experience in the housing sector, including housing associations, the private rental sector and the associated policy development arena. She was the Chief Executive of Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association, for over 16 years, which is one of the largest housing associations in the country with responsibility for around 60,000 homes, 120,000 residents and an ongoing new-build programme of over 1,000 homes a year. She was previously a Non-Executive Director of the NHF and McCarthy Stone plc, a developer and manager of retirement communities, and also the former Chair of G15, the group representing London's largest housing associations.
Geeta is currently the Chair for PRS REIT plc, the first UK quoted real estate investment trust to focus on new build family homes for the private rental market. She is a Non Executive Director at Barratt Redrow and Chair of their sustainability committee. Also Chair of Lloyd’s Living Pathways FPRP. She joined Crisis, the homelessness charity, in September 2024 where she is Vice Chair and she is also part of the national advisory panel for Homewards, the Royal Foundations programme to demonstrate it is possible to end homelessness.

Leann Hearne
Vice Chair, Yorkshire HousingLéann Hearne was appointed as Group Chief Executive of First Ark Group (now Livv Housing Group) in October 2018 following its regulatory downgrade to a non compliant G3. She led the business through a period of change, simplifying the way it was governed and operated so that its people and customers would benefit. It was upgraded to a G1/V1 by Regulator of Social Housing in April 2022. Leann believes that business can be done better, to bring its purpose to life. She uses her private sector background and her non-executive roles to drive performance and customer service. She began her career in the engineering and construction sectors and became Managing Director of an international manufacturing business in 2000. Whilst there she took up a non-executive position in a housing association with a range of roles, including Chair and Group Vice-Chair. This led to a move to work in the sector. She continues to work as a non-executive and currently holds roles at Yorkshire Housing and Northern Housing Consortium.

Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive and President, Peabody and CIHElly has over 22 years' experience in the housing sector, working her way up from supported housing officer to executive level roles. Elly was previously the Group Director, Assets and Sustainability at Notting Hill Genesis. Her earlier roles were Programme Director, leading the integration programme for Notting Hill and Genesis, and Director of Business Improvement as well as a range of roles at Orbit and A2 Dominion. Elly sits on the National Housing Federation’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group and is a member of the Green Spaces Advisory Board. She is the current President of the Chartered Institute of Housing,.

Geraldine Howley
Chair, Together HousingGeraldine Howley is Chair of Together Housing, one of the country’s largest housing providers. She retired as Chief Executive of Incommunities in 2021 after having cut her teeth as a Housing Officer on Bradford’s estates. Geraldine has had a long association the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), including being past President, and was also Chair of CIH Governing Board. She has Chaired the UK and Ireland Housing Partnership, part of the unique International Housing Partnership. Geraldine is the Executive Chair of the GEM graduate programme which has provided opportunities for young people to enter the social housing.

Leanne Hurrell
Head of UK Regional Public Sector, Amazon Web ServicesLeanne Hurrell brings extensive experience in the telecommunications and tech sectors. Beginning her journey at Cable & Wireless, followed by roles at Level 3 and Verizon, she focused on addressing customer challenges through digital transformation initiatives. Known for her collaborative approach and customer-centric mindset, Leanne played a key role in developing Verizon’s acquisition team and was honored with the Leader of the Year award.
In 2019, Leanne expanded her expertise by moving to AWS, leading cloud acceleration programs for the top global and strategic accounts. Transitioning to AWS's UK public sector division in April 2023, she continues to lead teams dedicated to driving innovation in healthcare, education, non-profit organizations, and local government.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Leanne volunteers with Reenage, a charity combating isolation among the elderly. She is committed to making a positive impact beyond technology, striving to uplift communities and contribute to a brighter future for all.
Mike Kirk
Chair, Hyde Housing AssociationMike is Chair of the Hyde Group Board. He joined Hyde in 2021 from housing association Vivid, where he was Chair from 2017, following the merger of First Wessex (where he was Chair from 2015) and Sentinel.
He is currently a trustee of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust and was previously Executive Chairman at Quadrise Fuels International plc, Chair of Portsmouth Water, Senior Independent Director at KBC Advanced Technologies plc, Chair of The Conservation Volunteers and Chair of Thackray Museum of Medicine.Mike studied chemical engineering and nuclear fuels technology, at the University of Leeds and Imperial College, respectively and was a Chartered Engineer. After working in the nuclear and chemical industries, he worked as a loss prevention engineer in the insurance industry covering clients throughout EMEA. After gaining a Finance MBA from Bayes Business School, Mike worked in corporate finance and became a Partner at investment bank Cazenove & Co. and then was Managing Director of Financial PR agency Weber Shandwick/Square Mile before commencing a plural career as a non-executive director.

Alison Inman
Chair, TpasAlison Inman is the Chair of Tpas, the housing sector’s engagement organisation. She is a board member at Saffron Housing Trust, where she chairs the Service Quality Committee, Procurement for Housing, and Balkerne Gardens Trust. Alison is a former Chair of Colchester Borough Homes and the National Federation of ALMOs and is a Co-founder of SHOUT, the social housing campaign group. She received an OBE in 2017 for services to social housing tenants.

Anne Parker
Chair, Beyond HousingAkash Paun
Programme Director, Institute for GovernmentAkash is a programme director at the Institute. He leads the Institute’s devolution programme, overseeing work on the state of the union, and devolution to Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and to English cities and regions. He has previously conducted research on subjects including civil service accountability, parliamentary reform, coalition and minority government. Akash studied politics and political economy and joined the Institute in 2008 after completing a master’s degree. He has worked at the UCL Constitution Unit, the British Academy, the London School of Economics, and as an English teacher in Prague and Paris. In May 2022 Akash was also appointed by the Welsh Government to the expert panel advising the Independent Commission on the Constitutional Future of Wales.

A chartered surveyor, Nick has worked in the commercial world before changing to the charity sector twenty years ago. Nicks career has blended his passion for historic buildings, access for secure housing for all and charity support.
Ruth Picknett-Powell
Resident Board Member, Sovereign Network GroupRuth lives in a Sovereign Network Group home in Wiltshire and joined the RBP in September 2021. She currently works for the DSTL as a project delivery team leader having spent the majority of her career in the NHS.

Sue Ramsden
Policy Leader, National Housing FederationSue leads the Federation's policy work on housing management and supported housing. She is a board member of Thamesreach Housing a small specialist homelessness provider in London.
Catherine Ryder
Chief Executive, PlaceShapersCatherine previously led the Federation’s work on the Social Housing Green Paper. Catherine has also worked as Advisor to the Chief Executive at the Federation and has spent some time working on economic development and housing at Coast to Capital – a Local Enterprise Partnership in Surrey and Sussex. Before joining the Federation Catherine worked at the Audit Commission as a Strategy Manager, leading the development of assessment frameworks for local government.

Ben Shimshon
Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Thinks Insight & StrategyBen is a leading insight practitioner, conducting research and providing strategic advice to high-level clients. He specialises in providing clients with policy, positioning, campaign and communication advice rooted in our qualitative and quantitative insight. Ben appears regularly in the media, commenting on public opinion and political sentiment, and he writes frequently for a range of newspapers, magazines and websites. Ben has contributed to a number of insight and research conferences for, among others, the MRS, AQA and AURA. Prior to founding Thinks Insight & Strategy, Ben was a Director of Brand Democracy, and held a number of roles in and around UK politics and think tanks. He is a trustee of The UK Friends of The Abraham Initiatives, and served on the Commission on the Future of Council Housing in Southwark.

Pat Ritchie CBE
Chair, Homes EnglandPat Ritchie brings a wide range of experience to the role of Homes England Chair. She has been Chair of the Government Property Agency since 2020 and currently sits on the Homes England Board, where she helps oversee and implement the agency’s key priorities. She was previously Chief Executive of both Newcastle City Council and the Homes and Communities Agency. The interim position is expected to last up to 18 months and will provide stability and momentum to Homes England while it continues to play a vital role in delivering this government’s housing agenda and moves to a regional and place-based operating model to deliver successful placemaking and align with the government’s wider devolution agenda.

Doctoral Researcher in Housing and Health / Co-Chair, University of Bath / Housing Studies Association's Healthy Homes Research NetworkFaye Sanders, a doctoral researcher at the University of Bath, is a leading voice within the housing and health sector. Faye investigates the role of housing and the built environment in both mental and physical health. Her work is used as evidence by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to inform changes to the Decent Homes Standard and the English Housing Survey. Faye is also Co-Chair of the Housing Studies Association's Healthy Homes Research Network, a group focussing on the future strategies of UK housing research. Faye translates research into actionable insights that inform public policy."

Matthew Scott
Policy Manager (net zero and sustainability), Chartered Institute of HousingMatthew Scott is policy manager for net zero, sustainability, and climate resilience at the Chartered Institute of Housing. He holds a PhD from Newcastle University, and has written and spoken widely about the implications of climate change and extreme weather for social housing providers in the UK. He is also a regular contributor to the UK Housing Review and continues to work with academic colleagues to develop new research into the links between housing, energy, and climate policy.

Alistair Smyth
Director of Policy and Research, National Housing FederationAlistair has worked in the social housing sector for the last 16 years in a wide range of roles and organisations including a previous spell at the NHF from 2014 to 2017. Prior to that, he worked as a consultant on a range of neighbourhood and community empowerment projects. He also spent three years working in a customer-facing role as a Neighbourhood Manager and as Assistant Head of Neighbourhoods for Peabody. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Chartered Institute of Housing’s Policy Advisory Committee.

Jacqueline Starr
Chair, LiveWestJacqueline (Jac) joined the LiveWest Customer Services Committee in 2019 and she is now Chair of the LiveWest Board. Jac is the current Chief Executive Officer for the Rail Delivery Group (RDG). Previous roles have included Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Customer at RDG, Director of Experience at Barclays and Head of Experience at O2.

Jean Templeton
Chief Executive, St BasilsJean has been Chief Executive of St Basils since 2000. St Basils is a registered Housing Association and Charity providing a range of accommodation and support for young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk in Birmingham and West Midlands including young people leaving care and those who are care experienced. They have taken a whole organisation approach to becoming a Psychologically Informed Environment since 2011. Jean is Chair of the West Midlands Combined Authority’s Homelessness Taskforce and Chair of West Midlands Homelessness and Health Network and is a member of the Government’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Expert Group.

He is a Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Housing, a Non-Executive Director of Jigsaw Homes, and an Independent Member of Citizens Advice’s Equity Advisory Group.

Chief Executive, Pickering and Ferens HomesClaire has a career in social housing spanning over 30 years. She is an experienced leader and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing. Claire joined PFH in 2013 and since then it has been her mission for PFH to stay true to our values, be more than ‘just a landlord’ and to deliver exceptional homes and services to people living in our local communities, in their later life. They deserve the best. Claire’s role is to support the Charity’s governing board, to support the achievement of PFH’s Corporate and Financial Plans and take overall responsibility for the organisation’s compliance requirements.

Natalie Wilkinson
Chair, LivinNatalie is the Chair of the Board at Livin, a not-for-profit housing association with over 9,000 homes across County Durham. She has extensive experience in housing, development, regeneration, strategy and project delivery. In previous roles she led transformational projects to increase high-quality housing supply, building strong partnerships with Registered Providers, Homes England, housebuilders, and central government. She is passionate about community regeneration and improving homes and the environment and in her spare time she supports local youth groups as a volunteer.
